If you're new to Hive, budget for a Hive Hub: the Hive Active Plug is a UK Zigbee plug that reaches Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and Home Assistant only through that hub. Existing Hive users can add it to the hub they already have. The Hive app shows the plugged-in appliance's power draw in watts. Neither Hive nor SmartThings documents SmartThings support.

Ecosystem compatibility
| Platform | Works? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Matter | Unconfirmed | Hive's plug pages don't mention Matter, and we found no CSA listing for it. |
| Apple Home | Via Hive Hub | Hive's support site lists Hive Plugs for Apple Home, enabled from the Hive app via the Hive Hub. Schedules and Actions can't be controlled from the Home app. A retailer listing says no HomeKit; Hive's own pages say yes.[1],[3] |
| Google Home | Via Hive Hub | Hive lists Google Assistant; the plug reaches it through the Hive Hub and Hive account.[1] |
| Amazon Alexa | Via Hive Hub | Through the Hive Alexa skill and the Hive Hub. Hive says the Alexa link doesn't support multi-user or multi-home setups.[1],[4] |
| SmartThings | Unconfirmed | No official Hive or SmartThings page covers it. SmartThings forum users report mixed results pairing it directly over Zigbee. |
| Home Assistant | Via Hive Hub | Home Assistant's official Hive integration lists the Active Plug as a switch. It uses your Hive account (owner login, 2FA on) and the Hive Hub.[6] |
“Via Matter” means you add it with that platform's Matter controller instead of a brand skill or app. “Unconfirmed” means we couldn't find an official source either way. How we verify.
