Kasa EP25: what it works with
TP-Link · model Kasa EP25 · sold in US
HomeKit is built into the Kasa EP25, so it joins Apple Home directly with no hub. Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings connect through your Kasa account, and Home Assistant's official TP-Link integration controls it locally. It's a US 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi plug rated 15 A / 1800 W with energy monitoring, but you'll see power data in the Kasa app, not in Apple Home. It isn't a Matter plug; TP-Link's Matter Kasa plug is the KP125M.

| Platform | Works? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Matter | Unconfirmed | No official source mentions Matter for the EP25. One user forum post calls hardware V2.6 a Matter device; TP-Link doesn't say so. TP-Link's Matter Kasa plug is the KP125M. |
| Apple Home | Yes | HomeKit built in, with no separate hub. The datasheet says energy monitoring is not shown in the Home app.[2],[4],[5] |
| Google Home | Yes | Cloud-to-cloud link between the Kasa and Google accounts.[3],[6] |
| Amazon Alexa | Yes | Cloud-to-cloud link via the Kasa skill.[3],[6] |
| SmartThings | Yes | Link the TP-Link account in the SmartThings app. TP-Link's SmartThings energy FAQ lists EP25 (V2.60), and the Kasa EP25 page lists SmartThings.[1],[3],[7] |
| Home Assistant | Yes | The official TP-Link Smart Home integration lists the EP25. It talks to Kasa plugs locally. Newer devices may need TP-Link cloud credentials once to authenticate.[8] |
“Via Matter” means you add it with that platform's Matter controller instead of a brand skill or app. “Unconfirmed” means we couldn't find an official source either way. How we verify.
Specs that matter for setup
- Radio: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). TP-Link says Kasa products don't support 5 GHz, Zigbee, Z-Wave or Ethernet.
- Hub: Connects straight to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; TP-Link says Kasa devices need no hub.
- Local control: Home Assistant's integration controls Kasa devices on the local network without the TP-Link cloud. The Kasa app itself uses the cloud when the plug is online.
- Energy monitoring: Real-time and historical power use in the Kasa app. Not available in Apple Home.
- Max load: 15 A, 1.8 kW at 120 V; 1/6 HP motor.
Before you buy
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
- Energy data doesn't show in Apple Home; use the Kasa app (TP-Link also lists EP25 hardware V2.60 for energy data in SmartThings).
- Home Assistant may need your TP-Link cloud credentials once to authenticate newer units.
- No official Matter support; TP-Link's Matter Kasa plug is the KP125M.
