Eve Energy (Matter, EU): what it works with
Eve · model Eve Energy 20EBO8301 (Matter, product no. 10EBO8351) · sold in EU
All five big platforms (Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant) can control the EU Eve Energy, and every one of them does it through Matter over Thread. Plan on a Thread border router: an Apple home hub, a Google or SmartThings hub with Thread, or an Echo that is also a Matter controller. On iOS 18, an iPhone 15 Pro or later can switch it locally with no hub, minus remote access and automations. Model 20EBO8301 (product no. 10EBO8351) has a built-in power meter, is rated 11 A / 2500 W, and needs no Eve account or cloud.

Specs that matter for setup
- Hub required
- Unconfirmed
- Max load
- 2,500 W[4]
- Radio: Eve lists Thread. The CSA listing for 20EBO8301 also shows Bluetooth as a transport, likely for setup, but Eve doesn't confirm it.
- Hub: Eve's EU product page says it needs a Matter + Thread hub, but Eve's iOS 18 post lists Europe 4th gen for hub-free local control from an iPhone 15 Pro+. Every non-Apple platform needs a hub, so treat it as needed.
- Local control: Matter over Thread runs on the local network. Eve says it needs no Eve account and has no Eve cloud.
- Energy monitoring: Built-in power meter. Eve's April 2025 firmware moved it to standard Matter energy reporting (power, voltage, current, total use), installable via Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant or SmartThings.
- Max load: Eve's technical specs give max. 11 A / 2500 W for the European model; the relay cuts out above 11 A. The 16 A / 3680 W figure belongs to Eve Energy Outdoor.
Before you buy
- Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant all need a Thread border router; for Alexa, the Echo must be both a Matter controller and a border router.
- Hub-free control from an iPhone 15 Pro or later on iOS 18 is local only; remote access and automations still need an Apple home hub.
- Rated 11 A / 2500 W, and the relay cuts out above 11 A; Eve's 16 A / 3680 W figure belongs to Eve Energy Outdoor.
- Standard Matter energy readings (power, voltage, current, total use) need Eve's April 2025 firmware or later.
