- Most 24 V HVAC systems, incl. heat pumps[4]
- Radio: ecobee describes its smart thermostats as Wi-Fi-enabled. Retailers also list Bluetooth and a 915 MHz sensor radio; no maker page we saw confirms those.
- Hub: Connects over Wi-Fi; no bridge needed.
- Local control: No maker source states what works without internet. The Home Assistant ecobee integration uses ecobee's cloud.
- Type: Wall-mounted thermostat.
- Controls: ecobee says it supports most 24 V residential systems in North America; high-voltage and millivolt systems are not compatible.
- Power: ecobee powers it from a 24 V supply on the C-wire. ecobee says the Power Extender Kit comes with every model except the Essential and Lite, for homes without a C-wire; the kit has limits (see caveats).
Before you buy
- Without a C-wire the Power Extender Kit needs a spare wire; it does not work with dual-transformer, millivolt or high-voltage systems.
