It is a 13 A, 2990 W Wi-Fi plug on 2.4 GHz, with Bluetooth for setup only. The Tapo app shows live power, history and bill estimates and needs no hub. Each third-party platform needs its own Matter controller.

Ecosystem compatibility
| Platform | Works? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Matter | Yes, over Wi-Fi | TP-Link's UK pages say Matter-certified. The CSA listing (family SKU P110M) names the P110M(UK) variant.[1],[2],[3] Other Matter smart plugs |
| Apple Home | Via Matter | TP-Link's UK page lists Apple Home; there is no HomeKit (HAP) mode, so it goes through Matter and needs a controller such as an Apple TV or HomePod.[1] |
| Google Home | Via Matter | TP-Link's UK page lists Google Assistant; setup is through Matter and needs a Google Matter controller.[1] |
| Amazon Alexa | Via Matter | TP-Link says Matter-enabled Tapo devices connect to Alexa directly through Matter, not the Tapo skill. Needs an Echo that works as a Matter controller.[1],[5] |
| SmartThings | Via Matter | TP-Link's UK page lists Samsung SmartThings; setup is through Matter.[1] |
| Home Assistant | Yes | Home Assistant's TP-Link Smart Home integration lists the P110M among supported Tapo plugs (listing is not region-specific); newer devices need TP-Link account credentials once. It can also be added through the Matter integration.[6],[7] |
“Via Matter” means you add it with that platform's Matter controller instead of a brand skill or app. “Unconfirmed” means we couldn't find an official source either way. How we verify.
Specs that matter for setup
- Radio: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n); TP-Link's UK page says Bluetooth is used only for initial setup.
- Hub: The Tapo app needs no hub. TP-Link's UK page says third-party ecosystems need a hub from the chosen platform, i.e. a Matter controller.
- Local control: TP-Link's UK page says Matter devices talk to other certified devices on the local network. This is a Matter statement; no page seen covers Tapo-app control without internet.
- Energy monitoring: Real-time power, history and bill estimates in the Tapo app. TP-Link's UK pages say energy monitoring over Matter is 'coming soon'; a TP-Link release says the P110M is the first plug to get it by firmware update, with SmartThings and Home Assistant.
- Max load: 13 A / 2990 W, 100–240 V, 1/6 HP motor limit.
Before you buy
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
- No HomeKit mode: Apple Home works only through Matter and needs an Apple TV or HomePod.
- Alexa needs an Echo that works as a Matter controller.
- TP-Link's UK pages still call Matter energy monitoring 'coming soon', though a TP-Link release says a firmware update brings it to SmartThings and Home Assistant; the Tapo app shows readings either way.
- Indoor use only; motors above 1/6 HP and EV charging are not supported.
