“Via Matter” means you add it with that platform's Matter controller instead of a brand skill or app. “Unconfirmed” means we couldn't find an official source either way. How we verify.
Specs that matter for setup
- Radio: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (802.11b/g/n). No Bluetooth mentioned.
- Hub: The datasheet and Kasa's page say no hub is required; it joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly.
- Local control: Home Assistant's integration connects locally, not via the TP-Link cloud.
- Form: Replaces a wall switch; the kit is made for 3-way wiring. Rated 15 A general use or 600 W incandescent, 120 V, per the datasheet.
- Dimmer: On/off light switch; TP-Link's pages describe on/off, schedules and timers, with no dimming.
- Needs neutral wire: The datasheet says a neutral wire is required.
- Gangs / channels: The kit has 2 switches for one 3-way circuit. The datasheet warns that over-long traveler wires can stop them working properly: about 50–100 ft with a traditional switch, about 100–300 ft with two HS210s.
Before you buy
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
