For a UK combi boiler, Drayton's Wiser Thermostat Kit 1 (2nd generation) is a one-channel kit: a HubR that wires to the boiler by relay or OpenTherm, plus a battery room thermostat. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, and with Apple Home and SmartThings through the HubR's Matter bridge. If the internet drops, you only lose control from outside the home.

Specs that matter for setup
- Radio: HubR: Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and Zigbee 2.4 GHz; the room thermostat talks Zigbee to the HubR. Bluetooth is not mentioned.
- Hub: The HubR is in the box and is the kit's own boiler receiver and gateway, not a separate hub. The thermostat is Zigbee only, so it needs the HubR.
- Local control: Drayton's FAQ says that if Wi-Fi or internet is lost you only lose control from outside the home.
- Type: Wireless room thermostat; the HubR wires to the boiler.
- Controls: One-channel kit, heating only. Drayton calls it Boiler Plus compliant. Kit 1 is the kit its own guide recommends for combi boilers.
