| Platform | Works? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Matter | Unconfirmed | Neither Google's UK 3rd gen pages nor its thermostat specs mention Matter for this model, and we did not find a CSA listing. |
| Apple Home | Unconfirmed | No Google page lists Apple Home or HomeKit for the 3rd gen, and it has no confirmed Matter certification. |
| Google Home | Yes | Set up in the Nest app. Google says the 3rd gen can be controlled in the Google Home app once the Nest account is migrated to a Google Account; the Nest app keeps the full settings.[4],[5] |
| Amazon Alexa | Yes | Google's page says the Nest skill for Alexa works with 'Nest thermostats' and is available worldwide, without naming the 3rd gen. It needs a Google Account, not a Nest-app-only account, and some settings may not be available everywhere.[6] |
| SmartThings | Unconfirmed | No Google or Samsung page we read lists this model for SmartThings. |
| Home Assistant | Yes | Official Google Nest integration via the Device Access program, which Google says supports all Nest thermostat models. It is cloud-based, and Home Assistant says Device Access requires a US$5 fee.[7],[8] |
“Via Matter” means you add it with that platform's Matter controller instead of a brand skill or app. “Unconfirmed” means we couldn't find an official source either way. How we verify.

- Controls
- Boilers (on/off or OpenTherm), hot water, heat pumps (heating only)[2]
- Radio: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth Low Energy. The spec page also lists 802.15.4 on 2.4 GHz (used to talk to the Heat Link); it does not say Thread, so Thread is left out.
- Hub: Google's UK store page says the Heat Link, which connects the thermostat to the boiler, comes in the box; it is part of the kit, not a separate hub.
- Local control: No maker source states what works without internet. Home Assistant's Nest integration is cloud-based.
- Type: Fits the wall, or sits on a shelf with the Nest Stand (sold separately).
- Controls: Google lists combi, system and heat-only boilers, hot water tanks, hydronic underfloor heating, heat pumps (heating only), zoned systems and OpenTherm. Hot water control works only on selected systems, per Google's Europe differences page.
- Power: The thermostat has a built-in lithium-ion battery. The Heat Link takes 100-240 V AC and supplies 12 V DC to the thermostat; Google's Europe page says a wireless install can charge it over USB.
