• Radio: Nuki's generations table lists Thread but no built-in Wi-Fi for the standard 4th generation; only the Pro (4th generation) has Wi-Fi. The 2025 CSA entry text mentions Wi-Fi, but Nuki's own table is followed here.
• Hub: Nuki says the Matter lock needs no bridge or module. Remote access needs either a Nuki Bridge (sold separately) or the paid Thread remote-access option. Matter control needs a Thread border router.
• Local control: No Nuki source describes offline or local-only control explicitly.
• Fit: Mounts on the inside of the door over the existing cylinder. Nuki says the key still works from outside if the cylinder has an emergency function; otherwise use the Universal Cylinder, sold separately.
• Keypad: No keypad on the lock. Nuki sells the Keypad 2 NFC as a separate accessory.
• Power: Removable batteries: four AA cells or the rechargeable Nuki Power Pack (sold separately, up to 6 months per charge, per Nuki).

Before you buy

• Matter needs a Thread border router, such as a HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K; Nuki's hub table shows which Echo devices work.
• Remote access needs a Nuki Bridge or the paid Thread remote-access option, and the Google and Alexa cloud routes need it plus a Nuki Web account.
• Nuki says voice unlock is currently off in Google Home; app controls work.
• Your key only works from outside if the cylinder has an emergency function; otherwise Nuki sells a Universal Cylinder.
• The Keypad 2 NFC is a separate accessory.
